Top Ten TuesdayΒ is a meme hosted by Jana over atΒ That Artsy Reader Girl. Every Tuesday, you pick ten books on that weekβs topic.Β This week, we are looking at books guaranteed to make you smile, aka feel-good books.
Honestly, I think this is my favorite sort of books, irrespective of the genre. I could go on piling books here but will try to restrict it to just ten — for your sake!
1 / The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne
Because Pooh & Co. have a wise and kind word for every situation.
2 / The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy
Because it’s all illustrations and simple quotes that will stay long in the heart.
3 / The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold
Because a good man’s prayers are heard and repaid with a miracle.
4 / Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
Because a farce set in 1930s rural Britain is just the balm for wounded souls.
5 / How to Be a Domestic Goddess: Baking and the Art of Comfort Cooking by Nigella Lawson
Because Nigella is the queen of baking. And if you don’t like chocolate cakes, you have a heart made of stone.
6 / Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Because dreaming never gets old.
7 / The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
Because Rubin shows us that having even small monthly goals can keep us going through a lot of haze.
8 / Cotillion by Georgette Heyer
Because who doesn’t like the underdog winning the day and showing down his dashing scoundrel cousin?
9 / The Comfort Book by Matt Haig
Because this has snippets on every page for any day you’re feeling the blues.
10 / Adult coloring books by Johanna Basford
Because with illustrations like these, everyone reaches out for coloring pens with a smile (or ought to!).
… And which books have made you smile recently? Bring on the feel-good!

I so want to put Winnie the Pooh in my list (again) but I think people will start to think I’m having so sort of an affair with him! π But seriously, that’s a big yes to some of these choices.
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse has been on a few different lists this week! It must be a good read. π

I never thought about how cookbooks are definitely ones to put a smile on your face, but that is a very good point. Especially if the food you make turns out well!

Lovely feel-good selection.
xoxoxo Elza Reads
These are all great choices! I never read the Anne of Green Gables books but really would like to try them. I loved that you included coloring books and yes, the ones by Johanna Basford are lovely. I have Secret Garden and although it’s taking me ages to finish I love to reach for it every so often.
Very good to meet another Basford fan! Sometimes I just keep gazing at her artwork because I’m afraid I’m going to mess it up with my coloring pens!
