Some Thoughts from Rumi in Translation

Poetry Friday Header

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.

Iโ€™ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.

~ Rumi (1207-1273)

I like the imagery of this- the thought that came to my mind was a vast field of symbolizing the gray areas of life or all the possibilities.

Yes, Rumi’s quotes are little nuggets of wisdom. Not sure how much gets lost in translation, but I’m thankful for it all the same. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is lovely. I had to read it a couple of times which of course is the best way to read a poem. Getting ready for National Poetry Month in April!

I remember you mentioning April for poetry. I am trying to think of what other poetry I can get my hands on, and looking forward to the stuff you read!
