10 Random Books from the Shelf

This week’s Top 10 Tuesday (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) has an interesting theme and finally had me dropping the laziness and getting back to blog. We pick 10 random books from the shelf (whether from the read or TBR pile) — well actually: The First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf.

Here are my picks. Most of these are still unread or only halfway through, so if you’ve read these before, share your reviews please!

McKillip! I haven’t read in ages. Makes me want kind of want to reread the Riddle Master series.

Glad to see you back! I am reading a lot of mysteries and thrillers these days. And getting back into science fiction too. Less fantasy, for whatever reason… the Chambers book I picked this week is the third in the Wayfarers series. Although they’re all pretty stand alone…/

Same here, reading less fantasy fiction these days or getting bored (the horror!) by whatever fantasy fiction I do end up reading these days! 🙁 I’ve tried reading Chambers but it’s a bit slow for my distracted mind these days…

Chambers’ books are slow paced. I’m thinking of going back to some older fantasy because lately the newer stuff hasn’t been appealing.

Hope you’re well! :):)

I’ve only read The Tower at Stony Wood; it’s good. But then, I’m a fan of Patricia A. McKillip and love all of her books except for The Throme of the Erril of Sherrill.

I’m listening to the audiobook for Tower at Stony Wood. It was good and I am midway through, hope it will finally get me out of this fantasy fiction funk.

I wondered what you were up to! I haven’t read these but the art for Dark of the Gods is so familiar looking! He (or she) has a distinctive style I bet I could find on books in my house from that publisher.

When I worked in publishing, I remember being very shocked that the artists needed models to work from. Wouldn’t you think they’d use their imagination?

You’re right – that’s a very distinctive art style. I tried hunting up the artist, the only lead I could find was for Robert Gould. I’ll have to check if Gould has put up his portfolio somewhere.
